First 5 is pleased to announce the availability of funding for fiscal year July 2011 – June 2012 for licensed child care providers and licensed child care centers to improve quality child care for children ages 0-5 in San Joaquin County. Release for Qualifications (RFQ) Safety Net Initiative

San Joaquin County Children and Families Commission (also known as First 5 San Joaquin) is pleased to announce the release of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for funding programs under the First 5 San Joaquin Safety Net Initiative. The purpose of the funding is to implement safety net services for families with children ages 0-5 . The Initiative states: “First 5 will expand efforts, as funds become available, to create a safety net, to leverage First 5 resources when possible, to assist with the emerging needs that affect children’s well being.” First 5 has allocated $400,000 for this initiative. The mandatory Letter of Intent is due June 10, 2010. The application is available for review by clicking the menu on Funding Opportunities. The purpose of the longitudinal study is to examine over time the social, emotional and academic impacts of First 5 San Joaquin-funded School Readiness programs and First 5 preschools.
